A group of young residents from YMCA Cornwall enjoyed a memorable day out exploring some of West Cornwall’s most beautiful outdoor locations thanks to the support of our dedicated Housing Support team.
The trip, organised by Housing Support Officer Yasmin, gave residents the opportunity to visit Tehidy Woods, where they enjoyed a relaxing walk through the woodland and spent time feeding the squirrels. They then made a visit to nearby Hayle, where the group had another scenic walk before rounding off the day with a well-earned treat from local favourite Mr B’s Ice Cream.
As well as providing a fun day away from home, the trip provided the opportunity to get out in nature, create friendships and experience a new environment.
Getting outdoors can play an important role in supporting positive mental health, while shared activities help residents build relationships.
For many of the young people, the visit to Tehidy Woods was a completely new experience, making the day even more special.
The outing is one of many activities organised by YMCA Cornwall to support young people living in supported accommodation. By providing opportunities to explore new places, develop social connections and enjoy positive experiences, we help residents build confidence and independence.
