£10,000 Grant to Support Young People Moving On

£10,000 Grant to Support Young People Moving On

We’re delighted to share that YMCA Cornwall has been awarded a £10,000 grant from Cornwall Council, via the Cornwall Community Foundation. This is the full amount we requested and the maximum available for non-partner applications, making it an especially significant boost to our work.

Move On Bursary Fund

The funding will go directly towards our Move On Bursary Fund, which supports young people as they take their next steps after leaving YMCA Cornwall. Moving into independent living can be exciting but also challenging, and this fund helps ensure that they have the resources they need to make the transition confidently.

The bursary is designed to provide practical, hands-on support where it matters most. This includes help with rent deposits, fuel costs for staff to carry out outreach visits, van hire for moving belongings, and essential household items such as basic furniture and white goods. In short, it allows us to respond flexibly to individual needs and remove some of the financial barriers that can make moving on difficult.

Ongoing Support is Vital

At YMCA Cornwall, we know that the journey doesn’t end when a young person leaves our accommodation. Ongoing support is vital to help them settle, maintain their tenancy, and build a stable future. This grant enables us to continue supporting them during this crucial stage.

We are incredibly grateful to Cornwall Council and the Cornwall Community Foundation for recognising the importance of this work and for their generous support. Their contribution will make a lasting difference to many young people as they move forward into the next chapter of their lives.

If you’d like to support our work please consider a donation.
